CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK Schedule for Jan. 26-30

January 20, 2015 by Susan Armendariz

Next week Catholic schools throughout the United States will be celebrating Catholic Schools’ Week.  At Nativity, there will be themes for each day throughout the week that focus on the mission of Catholic schools.

MONDAY

  • “Catholic Schools’ Week Kick Off Rally” – At 1:30 p.m. in the schoolyard, all honor students as well as those who participate in extra curricular school related activities such as sports and clubs will be recognized.

  • Students are encouraged to wear clothing that represents our school colors (blue and gold).

  • In-N-Out Burger truck will be on-campus to serve burgers to Nativity students!

    TUESDAY

  • “Family Picnic Day” – This year our “Family Picnic Day” will have a theme:  “Family Cook Out”. We would like to invite all parents to accompany their children in the family picnic luau, which will be held in the school lunch areas from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Students and parents are encouraged to wear “Western attire”.  Students may wear their Western clothing (ie. boots, plaid shirts, jeans, etc.) throughout the day.  The event may be postponed if it rains.

    WEDNESDAY

  • “College/Career Day” – Students may wear a sweatshirt or jersey of their favorite college or university.  Students may also opt to come dressed in the attire of their future career (i.e., lawyer, doctor, etc.).

  •  “Wacky Wednesday” – Teachers will switch grades for forty-five minutes.  Students will be pleasantly surprised as someone else teaches them.

    THURSDAY

  • “’Defenders’ of Faith” – Students may wear sports jerseys or t-shirts with jeans.  We are encouraging students to wear Los Angeles Kings (hockey team) attire since the LA Kings Care Foundation will be visiting the school and setting up a street hockey rink for students to enjoy throughout the day.  Students will learn about hockey, including offensive and defensive positions.

    FRIDAY

  • “Teacher Appreciation Day” – This is a chance for students or parents to show their appreciation to the teachers.

  • “Literacy Day” – Students may wear comfortable clothing, such as pajamas to lounge in, for enjoyable reading.

  •  “Closing Ceremony” – At 10:30 a.m. all grades will be competing against each other in various games/events on the school playground.

We hope our celebration of Catholic Schools’ Week will be rewarding and enjoyable for all.
