Bishop Joe Sartoris accepts Nativity’s 2012 “Beacon of Hope” award for his lifelong service to the children and families in South Los Angeles at Nativity’s first-annual Beacon of Hope fundraising gala from Nativity alum Brenda Vasquez, a sophomore nursing student at Mount St. Mary’s. One hundred and fifty guests came out on September 22^nd to enjoy an inspiring evening and honor this man of God who has been a guiding light to so many. Guests dined to the music of celebrated acoustic guitarist Luke Thomas, and afterward were treated to a special musical performance by the enthusiastic Nativity Chorale, led by teachers Ambar Valencia and Megan Kinsella. The highlight of the evening was a very special short film, created by Nativity’s newest board member Leslie Sanchez, which spotlights the impact Nativity makes on the children and families of this community.
