Celebrating Read Across America

March 15, 2019 by Susan Armendariz

Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading with the theme: Celebrating a Nation of Diverse Readers. This nationwide observance coincides with the birthday of Dr Seuss on March 2, who is known for writing children’s books. Nativity celebrated with various reading activities and events. Each day was themed from wearing fun hats and crazy socks to students dressing up as their favorite book Characters and bringing a copy of their favorite book to share. The week ended with a family picnic and guest readers visiting classrooms to read to students.

A BIG thank you to special guest readers, Board Member Allyson Simpson, Donor Friends Elizabeth O’Neal, Mary Ellen Niederhofer, Anne Gumm and Student Council Members Camila and Daniel. Thank you for spending the day at Nativity reading your favorite books to our students. We are truly grateful! And special thanks to Mrs. Reynoso-Gonzalez, Ms. Nava, Ms. Torres and Student Council for organizing a wonderful week full of educational fun!!

“You’re never too old, too wacky, too wild, to pick up a book and read with a child!”- Dr. Seuss
