It is a Catholic tradition to honor Mary, our Mother, during the month of May by placing on her statue a crown of flowers. This lovely devotional ceremony is a favorite tradition at Nativity. The May Crowning gives the children an opportunity to especially honor the Blessed Mother of Jesus, and to give thanks to her for bringing our Savior into the world.
On Wednesday, the May Crowning service was led by our soon-to-be graduating eighth graders, our First Communicants and 5th grade students. The crowning ceremony took place in the church, where a special statue of Mary was placed for the occasion.
The children lined up for a procession to the statue of Mary, carrying a flower to place in front of Mary; and one 8th grade student was chosen to place the crown of flowers on Mary’s head.
Thank you to our First Communicants and to the 5th grade class for sponsoring! Thank you to Ms. Jacobo and Mrs. Amezcua for leading them!
We pray for our 8th grade graduates as they prepare to embark on their journey to high school!
A special welcome to our School Board members! May God continue to bless them for helpoing our community grow!
